HD2 vs iphone

My wife has an iPhone. While I have the new HD2. I figured after about 2 weeks of using it now, it would be a good time to say a few words of what I like and don’t like about each.
I also use an ipod touch w/ the 3.1 os. So I’m pretty familiar w/ the os.

I’ll start off with what I liked or now miss on the iphone / ipod that the HD2 just does not do out of the box.

1) I really really miss Cisco IPSEC vpn. Out of the box, it’s built into my ipod touch and Joy’s iphone. I actually use the software for telneting to my asa and Cisco lab. You can purchase a $50 software package to add it to win mo. But it may or may not work depending on your environment. I’ve already spend enough to get the phone. I’m not spending more on apps. Future solution: I am going to be converting my vpn tunnel from IPSEC to any connect. My ASA is defiantly capable of handling it. But, I have enough on my plate right, so the conversion will have to wait.

2) The cisco study apps / flash cards are great on the ipod touch. On win mo, there really is none. We’ll the same questions and study information is on their site. But it is very well laid out and intuitive on the ipod touch.

3) The ebay iphone app is greatly missed. Currently I just goto the site and login from the hd2. But the layout of the ipod app was so nice.

4) Free solitaire. There is no Solitaire that comes with the hd2. wtf. I was actually kinda disappointed.

5) Apple’s App store is light years ahead of marketplace. No question about it.

Enough of that. Now on to 5 things I love about my hd2.

1) HTC Sense. HTC did a great job of hiding the win mo OS and really improving the interface and experience. I prefer HTC sense over the ipod interface. (I love the weather app)

2) Opera and Skyfire web browsers are better and faster at rendering websites then safari mobile. (imo)

3) Build in pdf viewer, mobile office and better media player.

4) The ability to run multiple apps at the same time is a nice feature that I use quite often.

5) Gorgeous Screen. It is bigger and better then the ipod touch / iphone.

What I loved about both.

1) Exchange sync works great on both.

2) Battery life is great on both.

3) the virtual keyboards on both units both feel about the same to me. Although Swipe on the hd2 has some interesting tricks. I’m not fast enough at it though because some times the words I’m trying to spell are nothing like

4) remote desktop & instant messaging on both devices work very well.

5) Google maps and gps navigation. Although I love that my hd2 had the telenav software already built in and ready to roll.
