Auto Connect / login to Cisco vpn on server 2008
Step 1) Turn off UAC on the 2008 Server. (not required, but UAC is annoying)
Step 2) Install cisco vpn client version 5.0.06.0160 on the 2008 server. Restart and import your pcf profile. Set it as default.
Step 3) The cisco asa (or whatever you use for vpn) will need to allow passwords to be saved on the client side.
Step 4) On the client app. Click on options then preferences. Check Enable Connect on open.
Step 5) Open task Scheduler on the server.
a) create a basic task.
b) use the wizard. Check when the computer starts for when you want the task to run.
c) program path for me is “c:\program files\cisco systems\vpn client\vpngui.exe” it maybe different on your server.
d) open the properties for the task.
e) run as needs to be the local admin account or a local user account that has permissions to run the app.
f) check the box to run weather user is logged on or not.
Step 6) Save and restart.
